Philosophy and History of Parfums de Marly
Founder and creative director Julien Sprecher has always nurtured a great passion for perfumery and history. His intention has always been to create a Maison de Haute-Parfumerie in which tradition is combined with the present organically and originally, to celebrate the splendour of the invisible that is the essence of perfumery art.

While most of the reign of Louis XV was spent at the Château de Versailles, Marly was the place where the king entertained. The Château de Marly was a palace of pleasure, where his entourage was carefully selected to ensure maximum enjoyment and leave room for the most extravagant ceremonies. The king's court was so obsessed with fragrances that it was called 'the perfumed court': purses, fans, gloves and even the fountains were soaked in perfume.
The king commissioned the Chevaux de Marly in 1743, and these exquisite statues still guard the entrance to the palace park today. The grandiose equine figures played an important role during the period of the French monarchy, and the symbolism of the statues dedicated to them is full of meaning. This passion for horses and 18th-century pageantry inspires Julien Sprecher's soul as a perfumer.
